DIY Heart Garland

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and we’re in full-on decorating mode! This is our first year decorating for this holiday as a family, and it’s been a ton of fun. Whether you make your own decor or buy it (combo of both over here), it can help bust up those winter doldrums a bit. We especially need that here in MinneSNOWta!

As you decorate, you can also take the opportunity to talk with your kids about this day that’s all about love. We can challenge our kids to think about love as not only a feeling but also as an action. An action we do to show others kindness and that we care.

You could share ideas with each other of how you can show love to others this week. I also talked to my girls about how choosing to love isn’t always easy, but God can help us love well. We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

Regardless of whether you think this holiday is special, silly, or even a little annoying, it’s an opportunity to celebrate the most amazing thing ever—LOVE!
